According to IO+, Indurex, an Amsterdam company that uses AI to protect critical infrastructure, has raised €7m in new funding. Contrarian Ventures led the round. Axeleo Capital and Curiosity also took part.

IO+ reports that the raise comes months after research firm Gartner named Indurex a "Cool Vendor" in cyber-physical systems security.

    What the company sells

Indurex targets sites such as refineries, power stations, water plants and factories, where control systems open valves, set temperatures and shut equipment down when something goes wrong. In these settings, a digital fault can quickly turn into a physical one.

The company argues that most security tools for such sites only watch the network, tracking which devices are connected and what traffic passes between them. In its view, operators also need to know whether a plant's engineering settings and safety functions are still configured as intended.

Its platform, Indurex SafeGuard AI, draws data from a site's control, safety and alarm systems as well as its IT security tools. AI agents then flag unusual changes for a person to review. The company brands this layer "Engineering Intelligence".

    Market backdrop

IO+ cites the SANS Institute's State of ICS/OT Security 2025 survey, which found that 22% of industrial organisations had a cyber incident affecting their control systems in the past year. Four in ten of those incidents disrupted operations, according to the same survey.

Founder and CEO Jalal Bouhdada said the company focuses on the engineering, process and safety signals that show whether a plant is running within safe limits, rather than on the network alone. "Engineering Intelligence is the missing layer," he said.

Rokas Peciulaitis, founder and managing partner of lead investor Contrarian Ventures, linked the deal to electrification bringing more critical infrastructure online while attacks on it rise.

    Use of funds

Indurex already works with operators in oil and gas, energy, utilities, manufacturing and data centres, ranging from mid-sized firms to large multinationals.

The new capital will go into research and development and a bigger commercial team. Europe and the Middle East come first, with the US and Asia-Pacific to follow, IO+ reports.
