As reported by EU-Startups, Huppa has secured €1m in a pre-seed round to build out its management platform for gyms, CrossFit boxes and studios. The startup is based in Amsterdam.
Who is on the cap table
The round was led by a group of experienced entrepreneurs and investors, among them the founders of Dutch tech companies Sentia, Keylane, TicketSwap, Moneybird and Revue. NL SportTech Ventures, an early-stage VC firm that backs Dutch sports technology founders, also participated.
From the gym floor
Huppa was founded in 2024 by Sharief Mohamed and Gino Arendsz. The idea grew out of their frustration with the software used at their kickboxing gym and CrossFit box respectively.
The Huppa Platform serves gyms, CrossFit boxes, martial arts studios, yoga and Pilates spaces and other group fitness businesses. It brings member management, class scheduling, payments, financial reporting and automation into one system, and links operational and financial data to produce insights for owners.
Other features include scheduling across several locations, a KPI dashboard covering revenue, VAT and membership metrics, and role-based access for coaches, managers and administrative staff. Businesses pay according to their number of active customers, with no separate modules or unexpected upgrade fees.
The platform integrates with partners such as Mollie and with aggregators including Urban Sports Club and ClassPass.
Use of funds and targets
Huppa will use the new capital to keep developing its gym management platform and to expand its team. It plans to add AI-powered insights and automation, with the aim of building what it calls "a proactive digital sparring partner" for sports entrepreneurs, for example by showing which memberships perform best and which classes could generate more revenue.
The company will focus first on the Netherlands and Belgium, where it aims to serve at least 150 sports businesses by the end of 2027. After that, it plans to pursue broader European ambitions.
