According to TechSavvy Media, Omnidocs Group has bought WoodWing, a Dutch company that builds software to organise and store knowledge and to produce and publish digital content. The deal is Omnidocs Group's seventh acquisition in three years.
The transaction has a clear cap table angle: private equity firm Main Capital Partners is a co-owner of both companies. Main became a co-owner of WoodWing in 2020 and of Omnidocs Group in 2024.
Two portfolio companies, one group
Omnidocs develops software to create, manage and automate documents, and its main markets are the United States and Northern Europe. WoodWing is headquartered in the Netherlands, serves customers in more than 60 countries and has a business in the United States.
With WoodWing on board, Omnidocs Group now counts more than 400 employees and total revenue above 500 million kroner. Together, the two companies have five million users. They are now combining their products to cover the full document lifecycle, from template through to archiving.
Jeppe Schytte-Hansen, founder and Group CEO of Omnidocs, said the deal brings new technology, AI expertise and more staff, as well as a stronger position in the US market. "This takes Omnidocs to a whole new level," he said. He added that the group wants to become the largest European player in automating and managing corporate documents and digital content.
The investor's view
For Main Capital Partners, the deal brings together two companies it already co-owns. Wessel Ploegmakers, partner and head of the Nordic region at Main, said Omnidocs has more than tripled in size since Main invested in early 2024 and has built a strong international position.
Ploegmakers described the merger with WoodWing as another significant step for the group, saying it "brings together two companies that complement each other well". He said the combination strengthens Omnidocs' position in the global market.
TechSavvy Media notes that rapid advances in artificial intelligence have increased the need to organise texts, images and documents and to ensure their quality.
What comes next
The immediate task is integration. The two companies are now joining their solutions so that customers can manage a document from the template stage to the archive. Omnidocs has said the deal gives it a stronger foothold in the US and brings it closer to its ambition of becoming the largest European player in its field.
